Marija (Maya) Redzic was born in Croatia, where she spent most
of her childhood. Once the war broke out in Croatia, her family moved to Serbia first, and then later to USA. Although these
new environments presented new and unique challenges, Marija was able to leverage her love of arts to reflect her experiences
and better adjust to her surroundings. Marija holds a
Masters in Architecture degree from University of Illinois at Chicago and works as a frrelance architect and artist.
She has exhibited her work at various contests and was the 2005 winner of the Chicago Women in Architecture competition, in
addition to numerous other Chicago art and architecture awards.
Her inspiration
mainly derives from nature and space, and her ideas are translated into abstract pieces using oil, acrylic and
various other mixed media. Being trained and working as an architect and interior designer, Marija is able to translate her
ideas into artwork that is custom made for a specific space. Her love for color and ability to control it makes her pieces
very sought after, and are acquired by private collectors in Singapore, Australia, USA and Europe.
Marija now resides in Chicago, and is currently working on an abstract
collection for her upcoming exhibit. . . . .
